It is important that these exercises to prepare for childbirth are taught well. Through correct contraction of the muscles of the pelvic floor and abdominal wall, they provide good control and tone of these structures. If they are done wrong, they can have the opposite effect.
We recommend starting to prepare the pelvic floor for birth with a specialist physiotherapist from week 16 of pregnancy.
The assessment of the pelvic floor by the physiotherapist for postpartum rehabilitation must be done after the forty-day period following childbirth, at least 10–12 weeks after birth.
