[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]Abdominal separation, also known as diastasis recti, is when the abdominal muscles separate from the connective tissue owing to the weakness of these muscles. This often happens during pregnancy as a result of the growth of the abdomen, and it is the main cause of postpartum abdominal flaccidity and lower-back pain. It can also happen outside pregnancy when lifting heavy objects using an incorrect posture.
Treatment to correct this problem can involve exercises, physiotherapy or, as a last option, surgery when the separation is larger than 5 cm and up to 10 cm if the exercises are not effective at correcting the situation.
