[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_column_text]Recovering from a caesarean is slower than from a vaginal birth and requires extra precautions. It is important to avoid overexertion and, especially, to protect the wound when doing certain movements to avoid damage to the scar.
Nowadays the surgery is not as invasive as it used to be and recovery is faster and better.
Exercises to strengthen the perineum (contracting and relaxing the muscles of the anus, bladder and vagina) can be done from the first day.
You should wait until the scar is fully closed (six to eight weeks) before starting rehabilitation exercises.
You should not lift heavy items for three weeks and should push with your arms instead of using your stomach muscles when standing up.
You should wait a month before restarting sexual relations, as there are internal stitches to heal. Some positions will be more comfortable at first.
